The Hollywood Bowl's Record-Setting Run Starts After Its Fireworks Finale

October 22, 2026

The Hollywood Bowl billed OneRepublic's September 11 and 12 shows as its "Fireworks Finale." For anyone living above Highland Avenue, the stretch from October 21 to November 1 has more in it. The venue has seven shows in those 12 days, including the first five-show run any band has played there. The opener played Wednesday, October 21, which leaves six of the seven still to come as of Thursday, October 22.

For Cahuenga Pass, Outpost, Whitley Heights and the Hollywood Dell, that means a show at the top of Highland on more than half the nights between now and November 1.

Who Books the Bowl Once the Philharmonic Leaves

The fall calendar has its own logic. In 2017, Live Nation announced that the LA Phil had kept Live Nation–Hewitt Silva as exclusive promoter for Bowl concerts outside the Philharmonic's own summer season. The deal began January 1, 2018, for a ten-year term. The Bowl calls these shows "Lease Events," meaning an outside promoter produces them instead of the LA Philharmonic. The My Chemical Romance and Aerosmith pages both carry the Live Nation | Hewitt Silva name.

The label affects neighbors in ways that are easy to miss. Lease events follow their own house rules. The My Chemical Romance page says no glass, cans or alcohol may be brought in. Park & Ride and Shuttle prices are also set separately for lease events, as covered below. And the Bowl's longstanding neighbor ticket program is built around the Philharmonic. Each year the Bowl gives out 4,000 vouchers for Philharmonic performances, plus extra tickets for adjacent neighborhood associations to use for their own events and volunteers. Neighbors can ask their neighborhood advisory group representatives for details. That program is how most of the hills experiences the summer season. The late-October shows mostly reach those streets as traffic and sound.

The Calendar From Here

My Chemical Romance first booked three dates: October 21, 23 and 24. KTLA reported that plan in September 2025. Two Halloween-weekend dates came later. The Bowl's event page calls them the band's fourth and fifth Bowl shows, "setting a new record as MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE becomes the first band to perform five shows at the historic venue." In its fall preview, the Los Angeles Times estimated the band would play "to something like 90,000 people over 10 days" and listed the run as sold out.

Aerosmith & Friends takes the two open nights around that Halloween weekend. Variety reported on October 7 that the band will play October 29 and November 1 with rotating guests, including Run-D.M.C., Billy Idol, Eric Church and Slash.

Date Show Listed start
Wed., Oct. 21 My Chemical Romance 8:00 p.m.
Fri., Oct. 23 My Chemical Romance 8:00 p.m.
Sat., Oct. 24 My Chemical Romance 8:00 p.m.
Thu., Oct. 29 Aerosmith & Friends 7:00 p.m.
Fri., Oct. 30 My Chemical Romance with The Used 7:00 p.m.
Sat., Oct. 31 My Chemical Romance with Thrice 7:00 p.m.
Sun., Nov. 1 Aerosmith & Friends 6:30 p.m.

Look at the start times. The first three My Chemical Romance nights begin at 8. Halloween weekend begins at 7, and the Bowl lists a 5:30 p.m. gate time for October 30. The Aerosmith Sunday begins at 6:30. From October 29 through November 1, the Bowl has a show every night for four nights straight, and the crowds start arriving in late afternoon.

Where Highland Meets Hollywood Boulevard

The Bowl's own neighbor page says it "regularly works with neighbors and City Council offices to limit the number of overlapping high-traffic events in the area, which includes the Hollywood Boulevard theater district." That same page links to the Hollywood Partnership's street closure list, which shows two big closures this month.

For the AFI Film Festival, westbound Hollywood Boulevard is closed between Highland Avenue and Orange Drive from 5 a.m. Wednesday, October 21, through 11:59 p.m. Sunday, October 25. The north sidewalk in front of the TCL Chinese Theatre also closes daily for evening arrivals. That window covers the first three My Chemical Romance nights. A second listing, labeled only as a special event, fully closes westbound Hollywood Boulevard on the same block from 6 a.m. Tuesday, October 27, through 11:59 p.m. Wednesday, October 28. The north sidewalk at the Chinese Theatre closes from 3:30 p.m. on the 28th.

Neither listing ties these closures to the Bowl. On a map, though, the overlap is plain. Highland Avenue connects the festival block at the bottom of the hill to the Bowl's lots at the top, and through the first half of this run, both ends of that stretch have something going on.

The Tools the Bowl Gives Neighbors

The Bowl publishes more for its neighbors than most venues do, and almost all of it applies to lease events too.

  • Closure texts. On select high-traffic nights, Milner Road and Camrose Drive are fully closed at Highland Avenue to everything except emergency vehicles. Neighbors can sign up for a text the morning of each full closure.
  • Closure timing. According to the Bowl's getting-here guidance, the Milner and Camrose closures may start about two hours before showtime and end about an hour after the performance. On a 7 p.m. Halloween show, that means about 5 p.m. to after the encore.
  • No resident-only exception. The Bowl's neighbor FAQ says that "due to California law, streets cannot limit access to residents only," so the closures apply to everyone. Closing the streets fully also steers Waze, Google Maps and Apple Maps away from them.
  • Live text line. Neighbors with questions or feedback during a show can text 323-741-5999. The line is monitored only on show days, from about three hours before the start until about an hour after the show lets out.
  • Who's directing traffic. According to the same neighbor FAQ, the officers in the neighborhood on show nights work for LADOT, not LAPD. Some write parking citations and others direct traffic, and the Bowl says they aren't authorized to cite drivers for moving violations. The Bowl says it adds officers when it expects larger crowds.
  • Where rideshare goes. Lot C is the rideshare hub. Lot B handles shuttles, Park & Ride, accessible parking and limited parking. Lots A and D require advance reservations. Geofencing with Uber and Lyft limits where patrons can request rides.

For houseguests heading to a show, the lease-event transit prices are posted. Park & Ride costs $12.45 online in advance or $15 at the lot, and advance sales close at 10 a.m. the day before. The Bowl Shuttle costs $12.45 online where prepurchase is offered or $12 at the lot. Online sales close an hour before the concert, and an eligible Metro TAP card can make the ride free. The Bowl asks visitors not to park in nearby neighborhoods. Its parking page says every lot is stack parked with no early exit, and the lots open three hours before each event. The Bowl says its Park & Ride and Shuttle programs carry more than 200,000 patrons a year.

Sound gets the same kind of attention. For the 2026 season, the Bowl installed an L1 sound system from L-Acoustics. The Bowl describes it as the first installation of its kind anywhere, built to keep "energy focused on the audience while minimizing spill in unwanted areas." That comes on top of sound monitors at every show, limits on extra sound systems brought in by performers, and quieter pre-show sound checks. A five-night rock run and two Aerosmith nights will put that system through a real test. The Bowl also takes traffic and sound feedback through an online form.

After November 1

Once Aerosmith wraps on Sunday, November 1, the pace drops. The calendar lists Jimmy Eat World with The Format on November 7, Ms. Lauryn Hill and Wyclef Jean celebrating 30 years of the Fugees' The Score on November 8, and the Jonas Brothers on November 18 and 19. The last 2026 show is Steve Lacy on Saturday, November 21, at 8 p.m. After that, the next date on the calendar is in May 2027.

In the off-season, the Bowl turns back into a daytime park for the hills. The grounds are open to the public seven days a week from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. The Bowl notes those hours are subject to change. The South LA Cafe serves coffee, pastries, sandwiches and salads from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily in the Hollywood Bowl Plaza Marketplace, between the Bowl Store and the box office. Parking in Lot A, entered from North Highland Avenue, is free until 3 p.m. On weekday mornings after this run, Lot A, which needs an advance reservation on show nights, is a free place to park for a coffee.

The Bowl's calendar shapes some streets in the hills much more than others, and closure nights on Milner and Camrose are a different experience from a show night a few canyons away.
